Information Security is a necessary part of our lives today and the laws and acts that come with it have played a vital part in protecting people's interests and continue to do so today. Unfortunately they cannot fully protect us from hackers yet, so better security must be developed. But that does not rule out the fact that the laws and acts do a good job of protecting people from some hackers so far.
